Fishing In Jamaica

Fishing in Jamaica is part of a dream vacation for many. There are many excellent fishing spots, as is evidenced by Jamaica's international popularity as a fishing destination and tournament site. Deep-sea fishing trips are easily chartered, as are fishing tours of the region. As an island nation, fishing is important to the local economy, a part of the local culture. Thus, the savvy visitor may be able to arrange to do his fishing outside of the usual tourist spots, and instead enjoy a few of the places known and loved by local fishers.

Suzie-Q Deep Sea Fishing Charters operates out of Falmouth, which is close to Montego Bay, offers both 8-hour and 4-hour charters for up to 12 people. There are a wide variety of fish available in the fishing region, including blue marlin, white marlin, mahi mahi, wahoo, black-finned tuna, yellow-finned tuna, skipjack, kingfish, mackerel, and sailfish. Reservation must be made 48 hours in advance, and rates are $500 for 4 hours with up to 8 people, $900 for 8 hours. $30 per extra person, up to a total of 14, will be charged.

Jamaica Deep Sea Adventures, found at the Port Antonio marina, prides itself on the fine equipment it provides for its fishers. One of the special items is a chair designed specifically for supporting the fisher while he is struggling with large fish. Fishers can expect to be dropping their lines up to 6,000 feet into the beautiful salt waters that are home to numerous species of fish, including barracuda, tuna, and marlin.

Montego Bay is home to No Problem Fishing Charters. They offer half day charters for $360 and full day charters for $690. Also in Montego Bay are Pier One Marina, where chartered fishing excursions can be arranged, and North Coast Marine Charters, which operates out of Half Moon Hotel and Wynham Rose Hall Hotel.

Families will enjoy using Salty Angler Fishing Charters of Montego Bay, because children are welcomed and beginner's lessons are readily available. It should be noted, however, that this is catch and release fishing only. They have a variety of fishing experiences available, including open water fishing, coastal fishing, night fishing, fly fishing and light tackle fishing.

At the Lost Beach Resort, located in Negril, a different sort of fishing trip can be arranged. For a fee, a trip with a local fisherman can be set up. Fishers will accompany the local fisherman in his wooden skiff and fish by line or by pot. It is a fascinating experience and a wonderful way to learn a bit about the local culture.

Near Treasure Beach and also around Port Antonio, small wooden boats can be chartered or rented for hand-line fishing. As with most fishing expeditions in Jamaica, the local hotels can help to locate and arrange the most suitable fishing experience.

Jamaica has a broad range of fishing opportunities, from adventurous and exciting to relaxing and peaceful. Tours and charters are not only for the sports fisherman, but also can be enjoyed safely by families. Jamaican waters draw fishers from all over the world, and for good reason. Each fishing day has the potential to be a one-of-a-kind experience.

The sea is the home to millions of fish species. There is no doubt to the richness of the ocean world when it comes to the variety of fishes that can be found therein. Deep sea fishing is definitely one of the activities which water enthusiasts and fish lovers will love to deal with. How much more if it has something to do with the Alabama deep sea fishing?

The seawater is the sole place where marine life thrives. And as you go for the Alabama deep sea fishing, you are likely to discover that biodiversity is such an interesting thing that must be appreciated and cared for. Alabama deep sea fishing is an activity which most people are getting heavily engaged into nowadays. You can invite your friends or your relatives to this one-of-a-kind fishing spree. If you go into some charter trips to Alabama, your question is what kind of fish will you be able to get your hands on. Honestly, the species of the fish that you may catch depends entirely on the seawater spot that you concentrate on.

Much more, the list of the fish that you can expect to catch ranges from the barracuda, Blackfin tuna, amberjack, king mackerel, cobia, blacktip shark, dolphin, tarpon, mangrove snapper, the little tunny, spotted sea trout, and the Pompano. There are a lot other varieties of fishes that you may surprisingly catch as you go on an Alabama deep sea fishing trip.

Most of the water enthusiasts who engage into the Alabama deep sea fishing adventure often catch the amberjack. This kind of fish appears to have a darkened stripe all over its body. The fish is very much edible and good to the taste. The amberjack thrives in a matter of sixty up to two hundred forty feet deep in the Alabama waters.

It may be caught through the deep sea fishing techniques such as the drifting, casting, trolling, or still fishing. All year round, the amberjack is present. Another favorite Alabama deep sea fishing catch is the barracuda.

The smaller version of these species is the ones which are advisable to be eaten. It is an ordinary occurrence for one to spot the barracuda that weighs fifteen in pounds. Its body is relatively small in appearance since it is by nature swift to move to a fast pace of sixty kph to the maximum.

Deep sea fishing is one of those things that you either like or not, for the one that loves to fish and enjoys the open sea, there is nothing quite like it in the world, one amazing location for deep sea fishing is the David writes articles about Alabama Deep Sea Fishing, learn more about deep sea fishing at http://deepseafishing.advice-tips.com, an info site for http://advice-tips.com

From the state’s two best-known fishing areas—the San Juan river and Elephant Butte Reservoir—to all of the waters associated with the state’s ten drainages, this book provides detailed information for each site on location, size, depth, shoreline description, fish species, suggested angling techniques, seasonal fishing reports, road access, camping and boating facilities, and handicapped accessibility.

This book is sure to become indispensable to two types of anglers: beginners, young and old, who want to take up the sport, and veterans—including newcomers to the state—who seek up-to-date information on all species of coldwater and warm water sport fish in New Mexico.

Fishing Lures - Artificial Frog Review

Every tackle box usually has an interesting assortment of artificial lures to choose from. Mine is no different than anyone else?s I suppose, as it has more colors and shapes and sizes inside than I ever hope to use. But I cannot resist buying yet another fishing lure that I may use at least once. You never know, that new and shiny lure could be the one that helps me hook the big one.

My recent acquisition was an artificial frog. I had lost my favorite frog a couple of years back and didn?t have the heart to replace it. That is until my latest purchase of lures. It was a Harrison-Hoge Superior Frog. Heck, if it is superior then I must need it in my fishing arsenal. Yet it wasn?t the name that sold me on my purchase.

There are many types of artificial frogs out there, some with hard or soft bodies and some with legs or skirts. I have tried several of them and I have to say that the Harrison-Hoge Superior Frog has the most realistic look thus far. Note to self? if I think it looks like a frog, I can assume the bass must too. This frog has a soft, pliable, rubber body with legs that would make a sailor whistle with glee. In the water, this frog will right itself to an upright position and the legs move around freely with each crank.

There are many frog styles to choose from including green/white, brown, chartreuse, holo-green, and holo-chartreuse. Also you can choose from either the 3/8 ounce or 5/8 ounce weight. I purchased the green/white and holo-chartreuse models in both weights.

I found no disappointment on the arrival of my lures. These frogs look and act like the real thing in the water. Another major improvement over artificial frogs I used in the past is the weedless hook. This is a top-notch, superior weedless hook that I have run through a wide variety of water grasses and lilies with no issue. It always stays in place, which is what you should be looking for in any lure with a weedless hook.

All-in-all I rank the Harrison-Hoge Superior Frog at the top of the bass food chain and would recommend it as a must for any bass anglers tackle box.

Redfish, Bluefish, Sheefish, Snook: Far-Flung Tales of Fly-Fishing Adventure

Doctor, angler, and raconteur Donald Thomas takes fishermen on a rollicking road trip through Alaska, Costa Rica, Australia, the Galapagos, and more. Fishing in oceans along the way, he enjoys the kind of adventures most people can only dream of. Each chapter includes a sidebar that gives Thomas an opportunity to riff entertainingly on a particular game fish, as well as an “At a Glance” section with both the current IGFA All-Tackle and Fly-Rod world records for that species. The fish he tackles include the sheefish (North America’s “most elusive and mysterious game fish”), smallmouth bass, mojarra and machaca, barramundi, mahi-mahi, and many more.

The Perfect Fishing Watch

When you are fishing there are a few items on your person that you don't want to get wet - like your cell phone, GPS unit and certainly your watch.

How many of us have reached in to grab a fish only to cringle as we realize we've just stuck our non-waterproof watch into the water? Right? So the first thing you need a waterproof watch on a waterproof watch band. But maybe your wrist isn't the best place for a watch anyway. How about clipping your watch somewhere higher up then the top of your waders?

That's just one of the many features of the Dakota Angler II watch. It doesn't go on your wrist it clips on where you want it. This watch really is the swiss army knife of watches. Just look at some of the other fisherman inspired features. It includes an integrated hook sharpener to keep your fly hooks sharp, it has an attached set of handy stainless steel nippers.

Its water resistant to 100 feet which is required in any fishing watch. It has an alarm, stopwatch and date with lighted digital display. A cool integrated Celcius / Fahrenheit Thermometer - handy for taking water temperatures and get this -- a built in compass. Hey you never know. The batteries on your GPS might die and it can be awfully expensive to call for help.

So is that it? Actually there is one more killer feature for helping you find your way back to the car after dusk - a built in ultra bright L.E.D microlight.

They thought of everything except a pair of pliers with this baby!

Can This Fishing Tool Do it All?

The BOSS Fishing SUV is kind of a gimmicky pocket fishing tool box from a manufacturer of similar tools aimed at the hunting market. Why is it called SUV? Who knows expect that the marketing slogan says it can "Do it all" -- I guess that is a reference to Sport Utility Vehicles and their "Do it all" image.

The BOSS SUV is a compact package that claims to eliminate a box full of tools. The Fishing SUV includes 10 functions. Scale, tape measure, hook sharpener, disgorger, line clipper, eye buster, stringer, mag-style flashlight (not included) holder, hauling loop, multi-purpose snap clip.

Basically for tournament fishing the tape measure and scale are the most important items in this type of tool. Most fishermen I know will already have a trusty stainless steel multi-tool or pliers tool like Fishboy's Fish GrpZ or any number of tools from Gerber or Leatherman to handle disgorging, line clipping and other tasks.

What I really don't like about the design of this product is the way the tools all hang off of it loose-like. With this configuration you can't easily pocket this tool.

Sure I have my line clippers hanging off my vest pocket but this multi-tool is designed to hang off of your belt loop and then the line clippers and other tools hang off of it. I'd rather have some individual tools and put them where I want to and have my Fish GrpZ safely in its holster until I need it.

The manufacturer of the Boss Fishing SUV claims it "is the most complete tool ever devised for the fisherman" but I beg to differ. No one tool can be all things to every fisherman and this tool doesn't even come close to being the most complete tool. Find it online for $15.

Fly Fishing Lines

Next to rods, fly lines have a significant part to fulfill for fly fishing enthusiasts. Without the proper fly line, there?s a probability that casting could turn out a disaster. But before we get to that, let?s take a look at the different components of a fly line.

We mentioned that casting has something to do with the line. Also, the size of the line determines how good casting could possibly become and not by the weight of the lure. This explains why the forms and sizes of the fly lines vary as well. Eventually, the importance and difference of the different forms and sizes of the lines is evident according to how it is used. Some lines are meant to sink and some to float. There are also lines which have a sinking tip though the main section of it floats.

Fly lines have different purposes. Lines could work in different types of environments such as fresh, salt water, cold and tropical temperatures. So if you are eyeing a specific type of water for fishing, ask for an advice first about which line works best.

In maintaining the good condition of your fly line, make sure that you take extra care the moment you start using it. Simple errors like stepping on the line, casting it without a leader and pinching it in between the spool and reel could greatly affect the safety during fishing. Not only that, damaging liquids like insect repellents or fuel can damage your line. Make sure your fly line is secured.

To make sure that your line always keep its good condition even when you?re certain that it hasn?t been exposed to damaging liquids or other reasons; clean your line regularly. You never know what else is in the water that your eyes can?t see, these microorganisms could be bad or good but if it?s bad, it means it isn?t clean and dirt can eventually cause your line to sink if it?s meant to float or vice versa.

Just be sure you regularly clean your fishing line by using cleaning pads. For an extra mild cleaning protection, avoid heavy detergents. Use a few drops of water with mild soap and wipe with damp cloth and you?re good to go.

Farming, Hunting, and Fishing in the Olmec World (The Linda Schele Series in Maya and Pre-Columbian Studies)

Farming, Hunting, and Fishing in the Olmec World (The Linda Schele Series in Maya and Pre-Columbian Studies)

The Olmec who anciently inhabited Mexico's southern Gulf Coast organized their once-egalitarian society into chiefdoms during the Formative period (1400 BC to AD 300). This increase in political complexity coincided with the development of village agriculture, which has led scholars to theorize that agricultural surpluses gave aspiring Olmec leaders control over vital resources and thus a power base on which to build authority and exact tribute.

In this book, Amber VanDerwarker conducts the first multidisciplinary analysis of subsistence patterns at two Olmec settlements to offer a fuller understanding of how the development of political complexity was tied to both agricultural practices and environmental factors. She uses plant and animal remains, as well as isotopic data, to trace the intensification of maize agriculture during the Late Formative period. She also examines how volcanic eruptions in the region affected subsistence practices and settlement patterns. Through these multiple sets of data, VanDerwarker presents convincing evidence that Olmec and epi-Olmec lifeways of farming, hunting, and fishing were driven by both political and environmental pressures and that the rise of institutionalized leadership must be understood within the ecological context in which it occurred.

Fishing For Women With A Wingman

Want to pick up women? Get a friend to help you out! First, stand or sit a few feet away from a woman or group of women and seem to be having a light-hearted, joking disagreement with your pal. "You're wrong!" "No, you are!" "I'm telling you, you don't know what you're talking about!" Then keep talking, but a little quieter so that the girl probably won't hear, then say, "Fine by me!" Remember, don't act really angry, act like a couple of friends jokingly disputing a small thing.

Now, go up to the woman you like (if she's with a friend, either your buddy can try to pick up her friend or he can play wing man and keep the friend occupied while you hit on your babe) and say, "Excuse me, but we're trying to settle a bet and we really need your help. We have agreed to let you settle the argument, and we'll abide by whatever you say." Now you've really got her attention, because she's dying of curiosity to know what the bet is, and she's flattered that you're putting her in charge of casting the deciding vote for the argument. Then ask something like, "Ok, my buddy here says Marsha was the oldest daughter on The Brady Bunch, but I know she was the middle one." Your pal can jump in here and say, "No way!" You don't have to use The Brady Bunch, just pick some show that was a huge hit within the last 20 or 30 years that people still talk about and joke about, and that's still played in reruns on TV. Don't pick anything obscure - go for something that everybody knows the answer to. Other choices might be shows like "Cheers," and you can bet that Norm was the name of the postman, while your friend thinks it was Cliff. Just pick something that for your age group and where you live, everybody is going to know the answer. If you pick a current show it won't work as well, because it will seem like a set up if you don't know the name of the biggest star on the biggest hit show on air now. But people do jokingly argue about things in older shows, and the nostalgia value of a show you loved growing up can get you - and the girl you want - laughing at the memory.

So now she'll say something like, "I hate to break this to you, but your friend is right. Marsha was the oldest daughter." Act a little shocked or let down, like, "Ah man! Are you sure? Well, all right, a bet's a bet. It looks like I'm the one buying the next round," you say this last part to your friend, making sure to smile and shake your head, maybe patting him on the shoulder - real friendly and casual. The woman's probably laughing about the whole bet over a cheesy TV show - but that means she's also entertained and enjoying herself. Now turn back to the woman and say, "Thanks for helping us out, we could've argued that all night. Seriously, we are that crazy! Let me pay you back, what are you drinking?" When she tells you and you order the drink, say, "Do you mind if we join you?" Since you've already made her laugh with your funny bet and you've bought her a drink, she won't refuse a seat at her table. Make very sure that while you're "arguing" the point with your friend before you talk to the woman in the first place that you don't mention specifically what the bet is about - someone else may overhear and jump in to offer the answer, blowing your plan.

The great thing about this conversation starter, though, is it can work lots of places - it doesn't have to be a bar. You can do this in a coffee shop and offer to buy a cup of coffee, you can do this in a fast food restaurant and say you owe the pal a beer or a coffee, then ask the ladies to join you (this may mean moving on to a coffee shop or bar, which is just fine!), and you can even do it in a park. There you'd say the bet was for a drink or snack of some sort from a street vender (if there is one in the park), or that you were heading to the coffee shop around the corner, and get her to come, too.

The next question is, now that you've got a hottie sitting down with you for a drink, what do you say now? Easy - check out:

for step-by-step guidelines on how to keep the conversation flowing and bag your babe!
