The Future of Billfishing

If you love something, set it free. It's not the exact or full quote and I'm pretty sure that the author wasn't talking about a fish. Nevertheless, the sentiment seems to best express my feelings about billfish and their importance in the grand scheme of things. I ran across another quote that speaks volumes, and it goes like this - "A release today, is a fish tomorrow!" Yep, this guy is speaking my language. I wonder how many others feel the same way? To my surprise, a whole lot more than I anticipated and they're doing a whole lot more than just talking about it.

The World Championship Billfish Release Tournament makes its debut in beautiful and billfish-bountiful Cabo San Lucas in May. Sure, there are plenty of other tournaments held here at the tip of the Baja peninsula, but this one takes conservation-minded protocols to a new and higher level. First, the mandatory use of circle hooks with either live or dead bait. Second, single hooks only, whether J or circle, on all artificial baits. Third, a tagging program which will assist The Billfish Foundation and others in the continuing research of billfish species and successful conservation methods. There is a long list of worthy endeavors undertaken by the tournament and those associated with it including direct benefits to the local community. Most important being support of the Nino's del Capitan, an orphanage dedicated to making a difference in the lives of underprivileged children in Los Cabos.

Add a one-of-a-kind Billfish Tag Challenge to the mix and you have the makings of a socially and ecologically conscious tournament with a twist. The organizers have added a single tagged marlin - to be tagged and released three days prior to the start of fishing - that if caught will bring the lucky team or angler a $1,000,000.00 (USD) payout. Mexico has never seen anything like this in a fishing tournament, conservation-minded or not, and the thought of landing the "million dollar marlin" is sending a buzz through the ranks of big game sport fishermen around the globe.

The group that put this event together sports some impressive credentials and brings a world of knowledge and experience to the table. The reasons why they chose to become involved follow along the same path, a path that leads to a reversal in the decline of billfish populations. Amongst the committee members is Dr. Russ Nelson, marine scientist and Director of International Conservation Programs for The Billfish Foundation (
http://billfish.org.com). When asked why he decided to support the tournament and provide his expertise, Dr. Nelson responded with the following. "Personally I have two motivations here. As a lifelong angler I am absolutely devoted to the joy of pursuing these great animals and hope my daughters and their children have the opportunity to do the same. As a marine scientist I recognize the importance of billfish - sailfish, marlins, swordfish - as the apex predators of the marine pelagic ecosystem - predators whose presence preserves a natural balance of other fish species in the system. Threats to these billfish predators represent real threats to the stability and function of the entire system." Dr. Nelson also added, "I think the time is right for Cabo (the town that marlin built) to move forward with a high profile all-release tournament. Cabo and Baja California Sur have made great progress in billfish and marine fisheries conservation over the last few years and now we want to showcase this conservation ethic to the whole billfishing world."

Wayne Harmond, one of the WCBRT's tournament directors said, "I chose to get involved with this group out of respect for them and as a chance to show others that tournament billfishing can have a conservation message and a social conscience and still be a great, fun experience. Indiscriminant drift net fishing and long lining have severely impacted the oceans creatures (not the least of which are the billfish populations). When you add the still popular tradition of sports harvesting of billfish, its clear that we have to show some personal responsibility if we're to change these practices. Baja, Mexico is a perfect example of a world-class billfishery that is in danger of losing one its greatest natural resources. I want to show that we can be good stewards of the oceans without compromising the pleasure and enjoyment of sport fishing."

Minerva Saenz, owner of Minerva's Baja Tackle in Cabo San Lucas(http://www.minervas.com) - the tournament headquarters in Cabo, was asked what she thought about the WCBRT. "What's there not to love about it, a tournament for fishermen by fishermen! This is a group of organizers who are not in it for the money but for the sport! First class all the way! Big dollars for releasing fish! This tournament is the future of jackpot fishing! It's important to point out that the WCBRT is also going to donate proceeds to local charities as well - the "Ninos del Capitan" and the FCP (Fundacion Para la Conservacion de Los Picudos, A.C.) or Mexican Billfish Foundation. The FCP has worked hard in Los Cabos, alongside other like-minded groups, to develop the first trust in Mexico that sets aside fishing license sales revenues in our state to billfish conservation." Great reasons to think about getting involved yourself, whether as an angler or as a sponsor.

So why did we (CabosBest.com) get involved. I can site hundreds if not thousands of pages of scientific research that supports the position of the WCBRT and The Billfish Foundation. Facts are facts. If we do nothing but stay the present course, these glorious creatures will cease to exist and along with them, the delicate balance of our oceans' ecosystems. If you love something, set if free. A release today is a fish tomorrow. The future of billfishing depends on it and it's up to each of us to support these types of events and further the spread of conservation-minded tournaments worldwide.

Bass Fishing At Night - An Effective Way To Fish

The classic image of bass fishing is lazing in a rowboat in the middle of a lake on a sunny afternoon. However, some smart bass enthusiasts have discovered that the best way to get great bass during the summertime months is by fishing in the dead of night. There are a lot of reasons why night fishing for bass is a great idea, so if you haven?t tried evening fishing yet, give it a shot and be prepared to reel in some winners. Summer is the most popular season for fishing, which has both positive and negative aspects for sportsmen. Because bait and equipment are in so much demand during the warmer months of the year, these goods are plentiful and easy to find as retailers stock up in order to get the best bait and tackle to their customers. However, as fishing fans flock to lakes and streams all over the country, all too often the peace and quiet of the sport becomes quite elusive as multiple sportsmen jockey for position on the same water. The summertime crowds can take away a lot of the fun of bass fishing. If you choose to fish at odd times of the night, it is likely that you will never run into the problem of overcrowding. Because only a small percentage of bass fishermen hit the water in the dark, you should have no trouble finding a pond or a lake offering plenty of solitude and a supply of fish that is all yours for the taking.

Another reason why bass fishing at night during the summer can prove to be a kind of fisherman?s jackpot has to do with the habits of the bass themselves. Bass prefer to stay cool, so they tend to head for the deepest waters that they can find during the intense heat of midday and afternoon. The deeper down in the pond the fish are lurking, the more difficult they are to catch and reel in. This can lead to fruitless afternoons of sitting in the sweltering heat and catching very little bass. However, during the cool nighttime hours, the bass come much more readily into shallow waters. This means that they are easier for sportsmen to find and to catch.

Although nighttime bass fishing can be much more rewarding than trying to snag these elusive creatures during the day, there are some disadvantages to night fishing. One problem that many sportsmen are surprised by during late night expeditions is insects. Be sure to pack some bug repellent to help you emerge from your night on the water without falling prey to mosquitoes and other warm weather pests. Another issue to consider is safety. Spending time in a boat when visibility is low because of the lack of light can be more dangerous than boating during the daytime, so make sure to take all of the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your fishing companions.

The Fishing Game: Physical and Spiritual Delight

Fishing game is considered a mild therapy by many psychologists: a way to get in touch with nature and return to our true selves. Why do most anglers fish? Not because of their sustenance, that is for sure. Fishing has become a game and is done with recreational purposes. It is, so to say, a kind of meditation, a way to get out of the daily routine and feel part of nature.

As in every game, special regulations are set for the fishing game. But most admired is the sportsmanship which exists between devoted anglers. To set a good example for the youngsters is the other reason why fishing game is played fair. In fishing games all players have great respect for living creatures and environmental protection. Fish is looked upon not as catch, but as a partner in the game.

When going on a fishing game, the angler has full appreciation of nature. Fishing game is not an avid search for more and more fish with which to boast before your friends. It is a way to express your positive attitude towards natural world. Fishermen enjoy contemplating the darting fish in the clear water. They regard fish as a manifestation of the divine, and fishing games are just a way to unite with the sparkling Universe and to share the joy with your companions.

Fishing games are different from other games, because you have to be truly devoted to fishing to get uplifted by the activity itself.
There are several types of fishing games, one of them is the so called "offshore game fishing". It is the catching of fish while boating in the open sea. Usually big fish are caught that way- marlins or tunas. Being in the wild and roaring sea causes special mood in most players. Here the connection with nature is even stronger and many people consider offshore fishing as a serene activity where contemplation is an aim in itself. While fishing offshore, most anglers leave competitive style behind, and do everything in a relaxed state of mind. Offshore games are not sport activities, they serve the mere purpose of giving pleasure. For more information click Fishing

But there are certain regulations that even the most meditative anglers should look upon. First of all, offshore fishing games require you to have a special boat with a certain capacity: it need to be a big one, from 30 up to 50 feet in length. The only thing that must be done is to reel a fish after it had been hooked. But this is terribly difficult, as deep sea fish are enormous, and many things had to be considered before actually catching it. Even if you manage somehow to hook the fish, the real problem is to keep the fishing line maintained on its specific tension.

Because of the hardness of the task that has to be completed, anglers must strictly follow the regulations of the fishing game. While fishing offshore, this can be vital for their successful catch. Sticking to the regulations also sets a good example for the others, and makes from fishing a friendly game, where people respect each other, as well as nature.

Short Review on fish game
G. Loomis RoaringRiver Dredger Spey Rods (Skagit Style)

The term " SKAGIT CASTING " was coined in the early 1990's to describe on offshoot system of spey casting being used at the time by steelheaders in the Skagit River area. It was mostly characterized by its relatively short shootinghead lines. However in its original context, the term skagit casting described a method of casting that exercised one particular premise to accomplish its casts- the sustained anchor concept. This works off the principles of rod loading that are the opposite of contacts spey casting. sustained anchor casting uses the "unsticking" of a thoroughly "stuck" flyline from the river's surface as the mechanism for creating casting energy. Allowing you to change the direction of the cast and providing the primary mechanism for loading the rod, the casts that work best with this concept are the Circle Spey, Snap T. The Perry Poke and Skagit style Doublespey. The ROARINGRIVER DREDGER SERIES is designed with a moderate/fast taper and softer action to balance the medium stroke required to cast short to medium belly lines used for these techniques, from the light 12'9", #6/7GLX, to the powerful 14', #9/10. When you need to get down fast in swift, deep drifts, the new ROARINGRIVER DREDGER will comfortably manage the sinking tips and weighted flies needed for SKAGIT style casting. The seven models, ranging from 12'9" #6/7 to 14' #9/10, are designed to throw short to medium belly 38 to 62 ft. lines using the balanced medium casting stroke, refined over time by the northwest steelhead fishermen. Requiring less back cast space than traditional casting, this series of rods provide excellent distance with some shoot to the cast. DREDGER GLX - This is the top of the Dredger line, featuring our proprietary GLX graphite along with the finest rod components available today. With nickel titanium recoil guides by REC these cast as slick as they look. Exquisitely crafted Portuguese cork handles with a special composite cork end-cap and fore-grip are fitted to our exclusive offset-oval sculptured barrel real seat, each with an ivory style insert engraved with a fly graphic. DREDGER KISPIOX - For a balanced medium casting stroke, this special graphite blend is tailored to the exact specifications needed to perform Skagit style casts. With Hopkins and Holloway components and beautiful Portuguese cork handles, the Kispiox rods are as beautiful and as powerful as the river they're named after. EZ Indicators Twist on Rubber Core Strike Indicator

The Slotted EZ Twist on Rubber Core Strike Indicator is one of the most versatile indicators available. It allows you to attach or change sizes without needing to cut your leader. The rubber tubing in these indicators is softer than other brands and really grabs a hold of the leader. Whether you are fishing a small fly shallow or drifting a large weighted Steelhead nymph there is a size and color for every condition. To attach place the leader in the slot and twist the rubber tubing. This will wrap the rubber around the leader holding it in place. If you slide the leader behind the tubing first it will hold it more securely. Try twisting only one end to know which end to untwist for easy adjusting. SHAPES: CYLANDER Sizes MEDIUM-5/16"(Dia), LARGE-3/8"(Dia). TEARDROP Sizes MEDIUM-1/2"(Dia), LARGE-5/8"(Dia), XL-3/4"(Dia). COLORS: CHARTREUSE, ORANGE, RED and WHITE

Fishing Tips for the New Angler - Where to Find the Big Bass!

Ready to join the growing number of sportsmen who have set their sights on catching that big bass? Thousands of new anglers are gearing up to hit the lakes, streams and rivers in search of the largemouth bass. This magnificent game fish can be as elusive as that winning lottery ticket.

Bass are part of the sunfish family. Other members of this species include spotted bass, smallmouth bass, rock bass, bluegill, and pumpkinseed fish. These bass, including the largemouth, are identified as warm water bass or black bass. Because of its "spirited" nature on the line, the largemouth bass is a favorite game fish for the casual weekend angler, as well as, the tournament fisherman.

As a new angler, your greatest challenge will be locating the "hideouts" of the largemouth bass. What makes the bass such a great game fish is that they are hard to predict. They are sensitive to environmental and seasonal changes. As water temperatures or levels change, so will their resting places. Other factors affecting their location might be season, weather conditions, amount of daylight, and food availability.

So, where is the best place to find the big "Kahuna" of bass? Different bodies of water will yield different results. Let's take a look at each:

Ponds

Ponds can yield satisfactory results, but the bass tend to be small to medium in size. Weeds and reeds are the natural habitat of bass. When fishing ponds, look for areas of weed beds near the shore. Bass will tend to congregate near or in these weedy areas, but also like to hide around sunken logs, large rocks, or deep holes.

Lakes

Natural lakes must be divided into two categories - lakes in the Southern states and lakes in the Northern states. The lakes in the north tend to have a wide array of topography - rock bluffs, weed beds, holes, sunken logs, reefs, islands and reeds. Bass aren't as plentiful in these lakes because these waters do not contain the plankton and algae that they like to feed on.

On the other hand, Southern lakes, especially shallow ones, breed some of the largest bass in North America. In these lakes, the bass will congregate in the shallows around the weedy and reedy areas. It's around these areas that you have the greatest probability for a strike, so cast your bait or lure in that direction.

Streams

Streams are often overlooked as a source for good bass fishing. They can be a great place to also find smallmouth bass, which prefer cooler waters over the larger and warmer bodies of water. The same principles apply in streams as in ponds - look for the sunken structures and along the steep banks. Anywhere that the weed beds change into rocky areas is an excellent location to find bass. One note of caution: bass will not congregate in flowing water, so don't waste your time in the middle of the stream in the current flow. Cast your line where the current is blocked, like large rocks of downed trees. This is where the large bass will be hiding out.

For the new angler, practice makes perfect. You don't need to start your fishing career on the big lakes. Try the smaller ponds to get accustomed to your new gear and to start to master your casting and retrieval techniques. Try different baits and see how they feel on the end of your line. Determine whether a spinner, streamer, soft bait or crankbait works best for you.

Trust me - you will catch plenty of bass along the way. They may not all be trophy winners, but you will learn to get a "feel" for a bass on the line. To help you gain a better feel for the fish, try using an ultra light combination rod and reel. Even the one pounders feel like trophy fish, and the experience you gain will be priceless.

By rethinking product design from the ground-up, we've created an impressive line up of fly-fishing storage products and accessories that look great, and outperform anything else available on the market. We started with a few simple ideas: design and create a tippet dispenser, develop an innovative cutting tool or clipper, and reshape the fly storage category with the creation of a series of soft-sided cases and chest packs. Our research has told us that fly-fishing enthusiasts want to lighten their load. In response to this trend, fishpond has created two new chest/fanny packs that can complement or replace the traditional fishing vest. Each product has our signature zip-down "fly bench" with a replaceable foam fly page that serves as a convenient fly changing station and work area. Bass Fishing for fun

Bass fishing in the USA is a great combination of sports, adventure and recreation. Bass fishing ,means pursuing black bass, a type of fish. Bass fishing has caught the fancy of Americans. You will find morning shows on TV about bass fishing. You will find thousands of websites exclusively on bass fishing. Bass fish is not about catching and eating. It is about catching and releasing.

Bass fishing is a great sports which doesn't need the skills possessed by a football athlete or the resilience of an acrobat. You need to be obsessed with the 'catch'. Hours of practicing can elevate you to the level of being called a pro. Bass fishing is about catching various species of bass - large mouth bass, small mouth bass, Kentucky bass, spotted boss, etc.
Experts opine that the beginners should start bass fishing in smaller ponds. They should avoid large lakes for this purpose. Once you have gained enough confidence, then only move to deeper areas in lakes. Bass fish loves to play hide and seek. Their natural habitat is behind rocks or plants or any such structures in the water body. Look for bass in such places. It is not necessary that the fish will be around large structures only. In fact, you have an equal probability of finding fish near a smaller structure.

Bass fish have a great vision - they can easily see in the night as well. Their see and feel organs work simultaneously. Bass fish are also supposed to have taste buds outside their mouths and inside too. This can help them avoid any unwanted situation. These characteristics make bass fishing such an exciting sports activity and a great pastime for people in leisure time.

One needs a set of equipment for bass fishing. This includes a pole, reel, hook and baits. Baits are available in many varieties chiefly, jigs, crank bait, spinner bait and plastic worms. It is recommended to beginners to start with crank baits and then advance themselves through spinner baits to plastic worms. Plastic worms need the most skills and practice. While Crank baits are suitable for beginners, it is the spinner baits which are popular among experienced anglers and seasoned fishermen.

There are many tournaments of bass fishing. Premier among these are American Bass Anglers Fishing Tournament, Superbass tournament, etc. Enthusiasts from all over the country take part in the tournaments. Bass fishing brings so much excitement today that it has become the most valuable freshwater sports industry.

Alaska Fishing And Lodging - Where To Stay ?

Alaska fishing and lodging is an amazing experience. First, you will enter the environment and be amazed at the beauty that it has to offer. Then, as you breathe, you will find that wonderful, crisp, fresh scent of the air surrounding you. When you walk into your lodge, you will be nothing short of amazed at the beauty, the natural qualities and the wonder that you have encountered. Of course, none of this can hold anything to the fly fishing you'll be doing in these areas.

Alaska is known for its high quality fishing. From the largest salmon in the world, the King Salmon, to the trout, the pike, the herring, sturgeon and many more, you will be in fish heaven to say the least. Here are some tips for when you are looking for your Alaska fishing and lodging travel destinations.

? Check out the Lower Cook Inlet. Here, you will find a wide range of salmon. You'll also find trout located here.

? In Bristol Bay and Cooper River, you will find some of the best salmon located.

? Southeast Alaska is where the salmon go to spawn. The winters are warmer here which makes it the ideal location to fish.

? Looking for trout, pike, burbot, or char? Look towards the arctic regions as well as the Western areas.

Where Will You Stay?

For many, the best kept secret about Alaska are the lodges. You will find a wide range of them available all year round. You can be smart and plan in advance through the web making reservations at your favorite locations. This is wise during the spring and the summer seasons when thousands of anxious anglers come to hunt the King Salmon. But, you will also find a wide range of other options too. For example, many like the remote locations where they can set up camps and really experience what Alaska has to offer. You'll find a wide range of areas to camp as well. Not to worry, if you don't make your reservations in time, just call up and find a location that has a room available to you as there are often plenty left for late coming visitors.

Get On The Tour

One of the largest benefits of all of this tourist attracting salmon is that you can often find some excellent guided tours. Here you will be able to find the most amazing quality fish so it makes sense that you take a tour of the local area to find the very best hot spots to fish. Guides will take you to the most perfect of locations so that you can enjoy the best fishing trip of your life. Some will even teach you the art of fly fishing.

Regardless of where you stay or what you do, you will find it nothing short of amazing to journey to Alaska for some of the most beautiful landscapes, the largest fish (did you know that 50 pound salmon are caught here?) as well as the friendliest people you have ever met. Make your next trip an Alaska fishing and lodging vacation.

Dimensions 19” x 14” x 10” Free Shipping! Fishpond is the fly-fishing industry's newest and most innovative accessory products company. We're small, but our products are already making more than a few ripples. Our simple ideas turned into very complex design obstacles and challenged some of the best industrial designers in the country, yet we've succeeded with our vision and created a line of revolutionary accessory products that will stand the test of time. Fishpond is all about design and function . We are the first to bring a functional tippet dispenser to the market-one that stores, straightens, cuts and dispenses tippet material directly from most commercially manufactured freshwater tippet spools. Look for our saltwater version in the coming months. Tired of plastic and aluminum fly boxes? We've also created an entirely new product category with our molded nylon and soft-sided fly cases. With ease-of-use in mind, brightly colored jacquard webbing on the spine serves as a hand strap to securely hold the case while on the water. This gives our cases their signature style and unparalleled function. To keep us on the cutting edge, we're redefining the accessory segment with revolutionary products like our patented, ergonomically designed Titanium Clippers with optional integrated retractor that make competitive tools based on the traditional nail clipper obsolete. At fishpond, we're committed to staying on the leading edge of fly-fishing product design, and we're already hard at work on the next generation of new products to enhance our position as an emerging leader with our dealer-partners and customers. Fishpond is connected to the past and it's timeless traditions, but its focus is on making designs for the fly-fishing enthusiast that will endure the future. We're committed to our dealer-partners and consumers at every level, and want to earn your trust and support by offering quality service, delivery and creativity.

Fishing the Flats (Salt Water Sportsman Library)

Fishing the Flats (Salt Water Sportsman Library)

There is nothing quite like the thrill of fishing the flats,--from Massachusetts to Key West, along the Pacific Coast, throughout the world wherever the ocean is shallow and the fish of the flats are found.
It is an immensely exciting sport--one of the great fishing "theaters" where the drama is always high. Mark Sosin and Lefty Kreh, two veteran and expert flats fishermen, detail the tackle and boats best suited to "thin" salt water. They help take the mystery out of the tides and show how an understanding of this phenomenon is crucial to successful flats fishing. They teach how to pole the flats and how to spot and find fish. There is particularly full treatment of all the gear and techniques needed for successful fly-fishing, spinning, and plug-casting. And there are separate chapters on each of the major game fish of the flats, including

· bonefish
· tarpon
· permit
· mutton snapper
· seatrout
· stripers

Fishing the Flats is essential reading for anyone who would fish this exciting shallow world of the sea.

Bass Fishing after Dark and in the Rain

When it gets too hot and too crowded on the water consider bass fishing in more agreeable climes and times; specifically, after dark or in a gentle rain. Lakes and streams often come alive when the sun goes down or hides behind the clouds. The fish are livelier and less likely to be spooked by human traffic. In fact, many anglers who visit dark and/or rainy waters as a change of pace, find that these times can produce some of their most productive and enjoyable bass fishing.
Before going any further though remember that safety is always first and foremost so find a buddy to take with you and as with any bass fishing trip let someone know where you are going and when to expect you back. Never, never fish when there is lightening any place in the sky or if you hear thunder. If lightening begins to strike unexpectedly leave the water immediately. Also, make sure all the running lights on your boat are fully functional.

Now where are you going to go? Night fishing and rain fishing spots are mostly the same spots you visit during hot daylight hours; now they're just dark and/or wet. Bright moonlight and shallow water are a good combination for night fishing. Many bass fishermen have lots of success at night off of well lit docks. As for lures, jitterbugs are good and the old faithful worm. Rattles and scents also get a lot of hits.

What are some of the benefits to alternative fishing hours other than the obvious cool waters without a huge infestation of anglers? Well for one thing, the dark and, particularly, the splash of light rain make it more difficult for the fish to figure out it's the prey. Also, rain oxygenates the water, making the whole lake bed more energetic. At night insects and other natural bass prey pop in and out of the water in ways they don't during the heat of the day. Rain storms also have this effect; in fact, rain can make the water come alive with bugs pushed in by the storm. Needless to say all the food in the water gets a heads up from the bass in the area. If you choose the right lure and are patient and quiet, those hungry bass won't be able to tell your worm from the real thing.

Perhaps the biggest and most unforeseen advantage of bass fishing at night or in the rain, however, is the change of perspective. Most anglers would agree they were fishermen for life the first time they felt that bass hit their lines. Still, the unexpected pull of a line in the dark still of night, the splash of rain drops on the water's surface can renew the sense of excitement and wonder that captured many fishers in the first place. So, if you are an angler looking for a different way to land a bass, you might do well to think of the times many others would never venture out for bass fishing.

Last Horizons: Hunting, Fishing & Shooting On Five Continents

Last Horizons: Hunting, Fishing & Shooting On Five Continents

Peter Hathaway Capstick first earned a name as an outdoor writer in the pages of such magazines as Guns & Ammo, Petersen's Hunting, The American Hunter, and Outdoor Life. In this, the first of a two-volume collection of his hunting, fishing, and shooting tales, you'll find twenty-four examples of his keen eye and steady hand with rifle, shotgun, bow, and typewriter.

The critically acclaimed successor to Hemingway and Robert Ruark repeatedly put himself in harm's way and writes about close scrapes with his trademark wit and dash. He tells what it's like to be in the path of an express train with Horns--the Cape buffalo; describes the heart-stopping sensation of sharing the immediate bush with several sickle-clawed lions that most certainly were prone to argue; and recounts his adventures bow-fishing for exotic species in the piranha-filled rivers of Brazil. Capstick's experiences, painfully gained (and almost lost) with the most dangerous of game, are the yardsticks against which most modern exotic and hunting adventures are gauged. The finely rendered drawings by Dino Paravano do justice to the text.
