Night Fishing - Five Things You Must Not Forget
Night fishing is a very enjoyable type of fishing. Whether you fish from a boat or from the shore there is some equipment that is integral to an enjoyable trip, especially at night. In many cases fish will bite quite well at night, so if you've never tried night fishing, it may be time to give it a shot. Just make sure that you remember these five items.
1) A lantern. This may sound overly simplistic, but remembering your lantern is none the less important. And if it's a propane lantern, make sure that you have an extra propane tank with you.
2) A flashlight. Although you are going to have a lantern with you for light, a flashlight is a good idea if you want to move around at all. This way you won't have to move the lantern every time you are in need of light.
3) Liquid refreshments. Night fishing is usually done while you're sitting on the bank or anchored in a boat. For some reason this makes for a thirsty angler. It more than likely has to do with the "down time", waiting for a fish to bite.
4) Mosquito incense. The mosquitoes can become pretty bad when night fishing, especially in the summer right after the sun goes down. Lighting mosquito incense can make the situation much more tolerable. There are few things worse on this planet than getting swarmed by mosquitoes and having absolutely no recourse.
5) Organize you tackle box before you go. There are few things worse than having to dig through your tackle box for something you need when it's the middle of the night. This one will save you a ton of heartache.

Saltwater Fishing Tips - Advice On Catching Fish In Saltwater
Every angler has a choice of fishing either in the river or in the open sea. Though each type of fishing has its own challenges, the important thing to remember is to have patience waiting for the fish and trying your best to catch it when it appears.
To be able to fish, the basic thing which a person needs is a fishing license. This is a legal requirement. The regulations regarding fishing vary from state to state, but fishing license is usually a must.
For salt water fishing, the first requirement is to have a boat. The boat can be as simple as a row boat or as big as a yacht. The size of this vessel depends on how many people will join the trip.
In case of in-shore salt water fishing, a 15 foot sailboat that comes with a cuddy forward to serve as a shelter when it rains should do the job. The boat should not be heavy and yet adequately sturdy to not be swayed by the action of strong waves or some bumps on the beach or on the rocks.
One should always try the edges of the perimeter first instead of plopping bait or lure in the middle. This is because it will scare the other fish away. By going through the sides first, one will have a better chance of catching unsuspecting fish in the middle.
If one decides to go "down below" some time, a cod-line is a necessity for everybody to enjoy saltwater fishing. A perch-line will also be good and if it's time for mackerel fishing, a mackerel jig will be an excellent help.
What is the right time to start salt water fishing? The ideal timing for fishing is when there is an ebb tide. This should be during an early morning time to ensure that the trip will be a productive one. This will put the tide in one?s favor and if the wind is light or not fair, this will also help in going home quickly.

It?s important to keep patience while fishing. Many impatient anglers move from one spot to another which at times makes these people miss a hotspot further decreasing the chances of catching fish. As a rule of thumb, you need to cast out a couple of times before moving on or before using different types of bait. Follow this advice by fishing from the shallowest to the deepest point.
People often get disrupted in catching fish by presence of sharks in the area. One way to distract the sharks is by pouring some fish blood on a paper towel or newspaper and rolling it into a ball, and then casting it overboard. Fishing Flathead Lake
Flathead Lake is the largest natural body of water found west of the continental divide. It is surrounded by gorgeous mountains on both sides and the water within the lake is home to one of the greatest populations of lake trout in the entire United States. Lake Trout fishing is by far the most popular type of fishing on this lake, but there are many other species of fish present within the lake as well. Some of these species would include: Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Bull Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Perch. The bottom line is that Lake Trout are, by far, the fish that most anglers choose to fish for.
Flathead Lake is one of the best lake trout fisheries in the country, with 15-20 pound lake trout being a fairly common occurrence. If you?ve never fished on Flathead Lake, there are many guides in the area that can take you out for a wonderful day of trout fishing. If you?ve never fished Flathead Lake, a guide wouldn?t be a bad idea, because with the lakes extreme depths finding schools of fish can become a bit tricky. The lake is over 200 feet deep in places. To Fish Flathead Lake effectively, a boat equipped with downriggers is a great idea.
Flathead Lake is also home to an enormous population of Lake Superior Whitefish. In many parts of the country these 3-5 pound beauties are considered a delicacy, and Flathead Lake has plenty of them. In fact in the fall you can even go river fishing for them. Fall is spawning time and they ?run? up the Flathead River to spawn. There are so many of them that they get stacked up in almost any hole. In the spring, when the perch fry hatch, Whitefish can be caught in the Elmo area. With the limit of whitefish on Flathead Lake being 100 per angler, a persons freezer can be filled on one fishing trip, although cleaning that many fish would be a nightmare!
Flathead Lake not only offers beautiful scenery, but it offers the angler many opportunities as well. As mentioned earlier, a guide is never a bad idea, especially on a lake of this size. Flathead Lake is 15 miles wide and 32 miles long, so that's a lot of water to cover if you're just visiting. A trip to a local tackle shop to pick up a map and ask a few questions will probably suffice as well.
The bottom line is that fishing opportunities abound in Flathead Lake. And if you happen to be in the market for a trophy Lake Trout, you'll have a hard time finding a better place to search for it than Flathead Lake. Fifteen to twenty pound "Lakers" Are a fairly common occurrence, and trophies are fairly common as well.

3) Liquid refreshments. Night fishing is usually done while you're sitting on the bank or anchored in a boat. For some reason this makes for a thirsty angler. It more than likely has to do with the "down time", waiting for a fish to bite.
4) Mosquito incense. The mosquitoes can become pretty bad when night fishing, especially in the summer right after the sun goes down. Lighting mosquito incense can make the situation much more tolerable. There are few things worse on this planet than getting swarmed by mosquitoes and having absolutely no recourse.
5) Organize you tackle box before you go. There are few things worse than having to dig through your tackle box for something you need when it's the middle of the night. This one will save you a ton of heartache.
These five things, although they seem overly simplistic, will make for a much better night fishing experience. The bottom line is that when it's the middle of the night and you have fish on your brain, these are the last five things that you want to be worrying about.

Every angler has a choice of fishing either in the river or in the open sea. Though each type of fishing has its own challenges, the important thing to remember is to have patience waiting for the fish and trying your best to catch it when it appears.
To be able to fish, the basic thing which a person needs is a fishing license. This is a legal requirement. The regulations regarding fishing vary from state to state, but fishing license is usually a must.
For salt water fishing, the first requirement is to have a boat. The boat can be as simple as a row boat or as big as a yacht. The size of this vessel depends on how many people will join the trip.
In case of in-shore salt water fishing, a 15 foot sailboat that comes with a cuddy forward to serve as a shelter when it rains should do the job. The boat should not be heavy and yet adequately sturdy to not be swayed by the action of strong waves or some bumps on the beach or on the rocks.
One should always try the edges of the perimeter first instead of plopping bait or lure in the middle. This is because it will scare the other fish away. By going through the sides first, one will have a better chance of catching unsuspecting fish in the middle.
If one decides to go "down below" some time, a cod-line is a necessity for everybody to enjoy saltwater fishing. A perch-line will also be good and if it's time for mackerel fishing, a mackerel jig will be an excellent help.
What is the right time to start salt water fishing? The ideal timing for fishing is when there is an ebb tide. This should be during an early morning time to ensure that the trip will be a productive one. This will put the tide in one?s favor and if the wind is light or not fair, this will also help in going home quickly.
The best place to start fishing is going to a fishing ground that is well known to the locals.
It?s important to keep patience while fishing. Many impatient anglers move from one spot to another which at times makes these people miss a hotspot further decreasing the chances of catching fish. As a rule of thumb, you need to cast out a couple of times before moving on or before using different types of bait. Follow this advice by fishing from the shallowest to the deepest point.
People often get disrupted in catching fish by presence of sharks in the area. One way to distract the sharks is by pouring some fish blood on a paper towel or newspaper and rolling it into a ball, and then casting it overboard. Sharks will usually follow the current and leave the area increasing the chances of catching fish.

Fishing Flathead Lake
Flathead Lake is the largest natural body of water found west of the continental divide. It is surrounded by gorgeous mountains on both sides and the water within the lake is home to one of the greatest populations of lake trout in the entire United States. Lake Trout fishing is by far the most popular type of fishing on this lake, but there are many other species of fish present within the lake as well. Some of these species would include: Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Bull Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Perch. The bottom line is that Lake Trout are, by far, the fish that most anglers choose to fish for.
Flathead Lake is one of the best lake trout fisheries in the country, with 15-20 pound lake trout being a fairly common occurrence. If you?ve never fished on Flathead Lake, there are many guides in the area that can take you out for a wonderful day of trout fishing. If you?ve never fished Flathead Lake, a guide wouldn?t be a bad idea, because with the lakes extreme depths finding schools of fish can become a bit tricky. The lake is over 200 feet deep in places. To Fish Flathead Lake effectively, a boat equipped with downriggers is a great idea.
Flathead Lake is also home to an enormous population of Lake Superior Whitefish. In many parts of the country these 3-5 pound beauties are considered a delicacy, and Flathead Lake has plenty of them. In fact in the fall you can even go river fishing for them. Fall is spawning time and they ?run? up the Flathead River to spawn. There are so many of them that they get stacked up in almost any hole. In the spring, when the perch fry hatch, Whitefish can be caught in the Elmo area. With the limit of whitefish on Flathead Lake being 100 per angler, a persons freezer can be filled on one fishing trip, although cleaning that many fish would be a nightmare!
Flathead Lake not only offers beautiful scenery, but it offers the angler many opportunities as well. As mentioned earlier, a guide is never a bad idea, especially on a lake of this size. Flathead Lake is 15 miles wide and 32 miles long, so that's a lot of water to cover if you're just visiting. A trip to a local tackle shop to pick up a map and ask a few questions will probably suffice as well.
The bottom line is that fishing opportunities abound in Flathead Lake. And if you happen to be in the market for a trophy Lake Trout, you'll have a hard time finding a better place to search for it than Flathead Lake. Fifteen to twenty pound "Lakers" Are a fairly common occurrence, and trophies are fairly common as well.

There are some fairly big differences and as a general rule, lake fishing is a bit simpler process, although we as anglers always seem to complicate the simplest of processes. There are two main types of lake fishing that are going to be discussed in the article. Fishing from shore and fishing from a boat. The two are more or less entirely different animals.
Fishing From A Boat - Lake fishing from a boat can be quite relaxing and quite effective. Some of the more popular lake fishing techniques would include: trolling, back-trolling, casting, using down riggers, and drift fishing. Various techniques work for different species of fish, but the all around most popular lake fishing technique while fishing from a boat has to be trolling. Trolling is simply pulling a lure or lures behind the boat as the boat idles along slowly. Back-trolling is the same this only with the boat moving in reverse so as to go even slower. Many boats are equipped with trolling motors to enable anglers to move the boat along slowly and silently. Trolling motors make little or no noise. When anglers use trolling motors, most of the time they then cast their lures/bait towards the intended areas. Trolling motors usually aren?t actually used for trolling (pulling lures behind the boat). A boat is a great way to go about lake fishing. If the cost of a boat is a bit too high for you, consider a small inflatable kayak or pontoon boat. These types of boats are very effective and much less expensive than tradition boats.
Fishing From Shore - Fishing from shore is what most anglers are reserved to doing, simply because the cost of a boat can be quite high. As with fishing from a boat, fishing from shore involves various techniques. There is any number of techniques that shore anglers can employ to catch fish, but the most popular has to be still fishing. With this technique, bait is added to a hook or hooks and a slip sinker is added to the line. A stopper such as a barrel swivel is also placed on the line to "stop" the sinker from traveling down the line to the bait. This rig is then cast out and given time to sink. The slack line is slowly reeled in and Bam. You're still fishing. Another effective tip for this rig is employing a set of gang hooks, instead of a single hook. A set of gang hooks enables the angler to present their bait in a completely natural manner. Another popular technique is to simply walk along the shore and cast various lures into the lake. This can become difficult in some lakes because of brush along the shore of the lake.
Lake fishing is incredibly popular and whether you have a boat or are reserved to fish from the shore, fish can be caught. I've personally caught a ton of fish in various lakes throughout North America using every technique available. At the end of the day it's all fishing.
