Fishing Tid Bits How To Fish Part 2
Well I am back with my second article and it is exciting to see how many people are interested in the fun of fishing. These articles are meant for everyone. Some of the more experienced anglers probably know a lot about what I am talking about already but I think back to when I knew nothing about fishing. I wish there would have been something like that. Eventually this will be an eBook so take advantage of it while you can.
Okay now were going to talk a bit about rods and reels but mostly reels.
A reel is a device which lets you store an excessive amount of line on it. They allow you to cast way farther, fish in deeper water, retrieve your hook easier and in the case you get a big fish on you can control the fight much easier. The four types are fly, bait caster, spin cast and spinning.
Spin casting
We will start with spin casting because it is the easiest to use and it?s great for newbie?s just getting into fishing. The fishing line comes out of a small hole at the front of the reel. It goes down a straight handle to small guides. These reels are great for fishing pan fish such as perch or crappy.
Spinning Reel
A spinning reel is often called an open face real. The reason for this is because there is no covering on the line. The reel mounts underneath the handle and you can cast further because with the open face it allows the line to come off the reel with less restriction.
Bait caster
The bait caster usually has a straight handle. Once again the guides run on top of the reel. A bait caster is quite difficult to learn with because the reel turns with the line when you cast so if you?re not careful this is the easiest and quickest way to make a mess of your line that you probably won?t recover from without cutting the birds nest out.
Fly Fishing
In fly fishing the reel is really only used for one thing and that is to hold your line. The other reels use weight to carry your hook to where you want it to go but in fly fishing you have to use several arm and wrist techniques. Another thing that is important in fly-fishing is your momentum.
The one thing that is the same for all of these especially for beginners is that you will need practice to learn how to work them. Some are harder than the others with fly-fishing being the hardest but with practice everyone can become experts at the sport of fishing.

Rice Lake Great Place For A Family Fishing Trip
Rice Lake, located about 50 miles east of Toronto, was one of our most favorite family vacation spots for our children. There are numerous family oriented resorts and cottages surrounding the lake to accommodate a family vacationers. This is the place to go if you are looking for fun fishing, boating, swimming and socializing for a relaxing summer week. Every summer, we packed up our kids, along with fishing rods, fishing reels, tackle boxes loaded with brand new fishing lures, insect repellent, sunscreen and everything but the kitchen sink to take for our trip.
We usually stayed for a week in a cottage just right for our family of four. We traveled in a caravan of relatives and friends together for our summer getaway. Of course, there were numerous stops along the way, and our kids loved to swap cars and travel with a cousin, or friend at the stops. Once we arrived at our destination, checked in and unloaded....everyone headed for the water, jumped in their boats and took off across the lake looking for a good fishing spot.
Rice Lake is stocked with Bluegill, Crappie, Perch, Muskie, Walleye, Large mouth and Small Mouth Bass and Carp. Our favorite is fresh perch and bluegill-the best tasting meal after a big day of fishing. My son was hooked on fishing at Rice Lake the first time we visited that lake. My son was always on the lookout for a Muskie to snag on his line and the anticipation was the most fun part of it for him.
When my daughter was about 2 ? years old, she went on her first trip with us. I was worried that she would be fussy along the way, but thankfully she traveled well and loved the camp grounds. The first day out fishing, we took her along and she loved riding in the boat and making her first attempt at dipping a fishing line in the water.
We were fishing quietly at a good fishing spot for the bluegills and I heard her behind me in the boat counting quietly..."uunn...tooo ....freeee....fooor". I looked around and there she was, tossing our wax worms out into the water, counting as she went!! The fish were well fed that day and we had a good chuckle, but her brother was not happy with her since we were getting low on his favorite bait!
Another exciting experience for my son happened on a sunny afternoon when my husband, my son and I were out fishing and we ran into Bluegill again. He was 11 years old at the time and was fishing with an ultralite fishing pole. All of a sudden, his little pole about bent in half and he was really having a hard time controlling the pole, but he did not give up! After wrestling with it awhile, he finally got it to where he was able to get the fish out of the water and he had the BIGGEST Bluegill that we'd ever laid our eyes on!! This Bluegill had to be the Great Granddaddy of them all...had to be at least 1 ? to 2 lb fish...no lie! The sad part is, we stumbled and bumbled around trying to get the net out to help get the fish in and then it just dropped off the hook back into the water! And we have witnesses...it really happened. There were people fishing close to us that saw the entire struggle and gave a collected "Awwww!" when the fish got away! My son was MAD to say the least!
My favorite time was in the early morning, when my husband and I managed to get out on the lake by ourselves without the kids and fish in the early sunrise. The sunrise over the lake reflecting on the calm water is the most soothing and relaxing experience. The quiet of the early morning is especially calming and I missed that the most when we came home from vacation. I wish somehow we could just pause that moment in time and hold onto it for awhile.
The evenings were another enjoyable time in the day. We usually got together with all the families we traveled with and had a campfire in the evening. The kids played together, swam in the lake, played games while the adults chatted about the day and relaxed. Looking back, these are the most pleasant memories to look over. Sadly, my children's father passed away a couple of years after that, so it makes those memories very special for us.
Our kids are grown up now and starting their own path in live. My wish for them is that they keep up the tradition of the family fishing trips to keep their families close and make good memories for their children. In this world today, God and family is more important than ever for a good solid background and good moral values. I believe sharing a family sport such as fishing can bring those bonds and values to your children as they grow up and look back on their childhood memories.

Trout Fishing Tips - In Search of the Trophy Trout
Have you ever dreamed of landing that big trout? Fishing for trout of any size is great fun, but I'm talking about those ten to twelve pounders, or even larger. You can do it, but first you have to find them.
Unless you live in the remote back country of the west, or some place where you have access to areas that have not had a lot of fishing pressure, then you have been limited to that kind of trout fishing, and like most of us, have settled for catching and releasing countless ten inch stock trout. Today we have to search out those places where the big fish can be found. Keep in mind almost all waters have a few good fish, the trick is how to catch them. If you fish the streams most of the time and have access to say three miles of stream, start your fishing a half mile or so from camp. You will be way ahead of most of the other fishermen in camp. Be sure to get out early as the best fishing will be right after day light. One other thing, very important, is to have a good selection of trout lures with you and maybe a few night crawlers. The fish, most times, will be just off the current, feeding. Try casting up stream above any eddy's or any rocks that might be exposed. Keep all slack out of the line and make sure your bait is getting down in the water. The bigger trout will be around cover of some kind. Continue fishing up stream, check and fish all pools and cut backs in the bank. Make sure after the sun is up your shadow does not show on the water. Don't forget to change lures after a while if you are not having any luck. A different bait in the same pool might get results. You might catch trout any time of day, although I have found, depending on the pressure, the best fishing is in the first three hours in the morning and the last two hours before sunset. Sometimes, again depending on the pressure, around three in the afternoon can be productive. These fish are likely ones that did not compete well in the early morning hours for any viable food. The farther you get up stream away from the crowd the better your chances are of catching bigger trout. If the water is high and a little fast you might want heavier trout lures, and if the water is a little murky you might try using a spinner bait that will be easier for the fish to see. Remember, they won't strike if they can't see the lure. Some times all it takes is the flash of the spinner to get a trout to strike and you never know it just might be that monster trout you have been dreaming about.
No matter what, you won't catch anything if you don't get out there and get your trout lures wet.

Trout Fishing Tips - In Search of the Trophy Trout
Have you ever dreamed of landing that big trout? Fishing for trout of any size is great fun, but I'm talking about those ten to twelve pounders, or even larger. You can do it, but first you have to find them.
Unless you live in the remote back country of the west, or some place where you have access to areas that have not had a lot of fishing pressure, then you have been limited to that kind of trout fishing, and like most of us, have settled for catching and releasing countless ten inch stock trout. Today we have to search out those places where the big fish can be found. Keep in mind almost all waters have a few good fish, the trick is how to catch them. If you fish the streams most of the time and have access to say three miles of stream, start your fishing a half mile or so from camp. You will be way ahead of most of the other fishermen in camp. Be sure to get out early as the best fishing will be right after day light. One other thing, very important, is to have a good selection of trout lures with you and maybe a few night crawlers. The fish, most times, will be just off the current, feeding. Try casting up stream above any eddy's or any rocks that might be exposed. Keep all slack out of the line and make sure your bait is getting down in the water. The bigger trout will be around cover of some kind. Continue fishing up stream, check and fish all pools and cut backs in the bank. Make sure after the sun is up your shadow does not show on the water. Don't forget to change lures after a while if you are not having any luck. A different bait in the same pool might get results. You might catch trout any time of day, although I have found, depending on the pressure, the best fishing is in the first three hours in the morning and the last two hours before sunset. Sometimes, again depending on the pressure, around three in the afternoon can be productive. These fish are likely ones that did not compete well in the early morning hours for any viable food. The farther you get up stream away from the crowd the better your chances are of catching bigger trout. If the water is high and a little fast you might want heavier trout lures, and if the water is a little murky you might try using a spinner bait that will be easier for the fish to see. Remember, they won't strike if they can't see the lure. Some times all it takes is the flash of the spinner to get a trout to strike and you never know it just might be that monster trout you have been dreaming about.
No matter what, you won't catch anything if you don't get out there and get your trout lures wet.
